Harris introduces new DMB 670 transmitter at NAB2016

April 7, 2016

Harris Corporation, an international communications and information technology company, has introduced its DMB 670-4000 transmitter for mobile markets. Offering twice the power of the Harris DMB 670 transmitter introduced at NAB2015, the 4 kW DMB 670-4000 supports international regions that use the Terrestrial-Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (T-DMB) standard to transmit mobile TV and digital radio from the same transmitter.

The new transmitter will be displayed for the first time at NAB2016, taking place between 14 and 17 April 2016 in Las Vegas.

Harris DMB 670 transmitters are the most compact DAB transmitters in the broadcast industry, and support the delivery of multiplexed Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) digital audio and T-DMB mobile TV channels to mobile, handheld consumer devices.

The Harris DMB 670-4000 transmitter, with twice the power, retains the same compact, lightweight footprint and energy-efficient, air-cooled design of its predecessor. The DMB 670-4000 transmitter addresses unprecedented power levels for DAB/DMB broadcasting in a market-leading, energy-efficient package to provide a more robust transmission platform that better serves consumers on the move.

The DMB 670 transmitter can interface with headend equipment to build a complete solution for the encoding, multiplexing and transmission of multiple digital audio and video channels in a single transport stream.

Harris Broadcast Communications provides products, systems, and services that deliver interoperable workflow solutions that span the entire broadcast delivery chain. The Harris ONE approach brings together highly integrated and cost-effective products that are ideal for emerging media business models and for customers upgrading media operations to digital and high-definition services.
